Baby Naming & Adoption

Celebrate your new arrival

Baby naming and welcome ceremonies are a wonderful way to welcome a new member of the family and provides a lovely opportunity to celebrate with your nearest and dearest.

The birth of a new baby can be recognised with a baby naming ceremony, offering parents the chance to mark this special moment, in exactly the way they wish.

Family unification, or welcome ceremonies, are a fantastic way for adoptive parents to mark their new journey together, whatever the age of their adopted child or children.

Whether they take place outside in a park, or are a small intimate event in the back garden, these ceremonies are a lovely way to give thanks and create treasured memories.

The ceremonies can incorporate music, readings, protection and guidance promises, and can include the use of a symbolic ritual such as planting a tree or the lighting of candles. They can be bright, warm, joyous occasions that offer a sense of unity for the children and the adults.

With many families valuing the significance of the role that non-family members can play in the upbringing of their children, this ceremony can be a perfect way to acknowledge any chosen guardians, ‘odd-parents’ or ‘guide-parents’, or whatever term feels appropriate.

Bespoke ceremony enables religious/non-religious elements

As an independent celebrant I am happy to incorporate religious or non-religious elements into the ceremony, so if you are keen to feature a hymn or a religious reading, but want to do something more personal than a traditional Christening, for example, then this may be a great alternative for you.

Grand-parents, siblings and even pets can feature in these ceremonies, and rightly so. After-all, as the traditional African proverb says ‘It takes a whole village to raise a child’!

Hannah I cannot find words to truly express my gratitude to you for all you have done for us. Everyone commented on how beautiful the ceremony was; you even brought the sun! You completely worked around my mistake at your own inconvenience, for which I am so sorry! Thank you Hannah for everything.”
